  • About

Through the generosity of library philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, who agreed to endow the City with a building, and donation of a site by Frank D. Stout, the Carnegie-Stout Free Public Library opened on October 20, 1902. The library was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Today the Library offers comfortable seating in five reading areas, programs for all ages, wireless Internet access, computers, books, magazines, newspaper, genealogy materials, e-books and downloadable audio books as well as access to electronic resources available inside and outside the library.
